Pope celebrates 80th birthday, invites 8 homeless people to breakfast

Pope Francis celebrated his 80th birthday Saturday by sharing breakfast with eight homeless people inside the Vatican.
The pontiff offered guests sweets from his native Argentina during the meal, which also featured pastries, meats, Nutella and orange juice.
The homeless people -- including six men and two women -- were chosen from area of St. Peter Basilica earlier in the morning, according to the Vatican. They hailed from across the world -- four from Italy, two from Romania and one each from Moldova and Peru.  The Pope woke up to over 50,000 emails wishing him happy birthday across the globe, said the Vatican. The majority of messages came from English-speaking countries, followed by Spanish, Italian and more than 1,000 in Latin. The octogenarian thanked well-wishers for their kindness on Twitter.

Nana Akufo-Addo to give keynote address at The Future Awards Africa 2016

The Future Awards, Africa’s biggest youth event, has announced the keynote speaker for its awards ceremony.
The keynote speakers of the Awards, in past editions, have been role model leaders, with exemplary profiles and global relevance, in persons of Dr. Okonjo-Iweala, former Coordinating Minster of the Economy, former Vice President of the World Bank, Obiageli Ezekwesili, to name a few.
This year’s edition is no different. The keynote speaker for the Future Awards Africa 2016 is: Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President-Elect of the Republic of Ghana.
Dr. Akufo-Addo is a man of the people, who recently emerged victorious in Ghana’s presidential election, after inspiring Ghanaians to vote for change. Before he became a politician, he used his law practice to champion the cause of human rights, rule of law, justice, freedom, and democracy.
In business, he was also responsible for, the introduction of mobile telephony into Ghana.
Undoubtedly, Nigeria has a lot to learn from a visionary lead…

Diamond Appiah Blasts Ola Michael Over her Cosmetics Product!

Actress and Singer Diamond Appiah has taken film producer,director, and entrepreneur Ola Michael to the cleaners for attacking her on her cosmetic product.  
On Ola Michael's Facebook wall,  he wrote: 

"Who needs a bleaching cream? I prefer the naturals not phoney. Don't know about you.....?"

This has provoked Diamond to reply Ola Michael with some very harsh words: 
"Somebody should tell that jobless son of a prostitute called Ola Michael that I ignored him yesterday bcos his level of stupidity n ignorance rendered me speechless. Secondly I didn't want to descend from my honourable political status n exchange words with a jobless malafaka who's source of income is following politicians around like their dog for pennies and hopping from one radio station to another to create humour for listeners entertainment. All the guys who approach me are broke; I don’t want broke guys – MzGee of Hitz Fm

If you are thinking of approaching Hitz FM and Joy News presenter, Gloria Akpene Nyarku popularly known as MzGee to win her heart, then you should check your bank account if you have millions of dollars saved before making that move.
The TV host has made it clear that she does not want “broke guys” in her life.

MzGee made this statement after she reported on Joy News about actress and movie producer Salma Mumin crying for boyfriend because most guys are afraid to propose to her.

Following the report, news anchor Israel Laryea questioned her if she has also had no guy make an offer of marriage to her as Salma’s case. MzGee responding to the query answered that her case is different from the actress’.

The host of ‘Showbiz This Week’ on Hitz FM disclosed that most of the guys who come her way to lure her are broke but she is not interested in such people.

Muhammad Ali letter to Nelson Mandela sold for £7,200

A signed letter from Muhammad Ali to Nelson Mandela offering his condolences on the death of an anti-apartheid leader has sold for £7,200.
The typed letter, signed by the boxing legend on "Muhammad Ali in South Africa" stationery, dates from 1993. It was sold in an auction in Devizes.
Auctioneer Andrew Aldridge said: "It's fair to say Mohammad Ali was the greatest sportsman of all time and Nelson Mandela was one of the greatest figures of the last century."

'Fierce opponent'
The letter was typed by the personal assistant to the general manager of the Elangeni Hotel in Durban, where former world heavyweight champion Ali was staying at the time.
Henry Aldridge and Son said the letter was sold to a collector in the US. It was expected to fetch between £6,000 and £8,000.
The letter also includes an explanation as to why Muhammad Ali's name was typed incorrectly by the personal assistant, who has sold the letter.

UN chief Ban Ki-moon hints he could run for South Korea's presidency

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has hinted that he may shortly run for the presidency of his native South Korea. Mr Ban's term as the world's top diplomat expires at the end of December. 
In his final press conference as UN chief, Mr Ban said that after some rest he will return to South Korea and consider how best to help his country.

South Korea's next presidential election is scheduled to be held in December 2017.

 However, a poll could take place within two months after the country's parliament voted to impeach current President Park Geun-hye over an influence-peddling scandal.
Ms Park is accused of allowing a close friend to profit from her connections with the presidency. 
If the country's constitutional court upholds last week's impeachment vote, she will become the first sitting South Korean president to be deposed in the country's democratic era - and a new presidential election will be held within 60 days.

Man’s death causes fear among Gyapa residents

The death of a 39-year-old Chinese is causing fear and insecurity among residents of Gyapa, a community near Wassa Akropong in the Western Region.
Unconfirmed report has it that Mo Sheng Bao might have committed suicide as he was found dead with a pump action gun in his hands in his own bed at his residence at Gyapa.
Some of the residents of Gyapa also believe that the deceased might have been killed elsewhere and the dead body brought and placed on his bed.

There are seven other Chinese nationals who live in the same house with the deceased at Gyapa. The seven were arrested by the Wassa Akropong police as suspects but were later granted bail to assist in investigations.

The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue of the Wassa Akropong Government Hospital pending autopsy.

A spokesperson for neighbours of the Chinese, Kwabena Kodua, in an interview with the Daily Graphic, said no one heard a gunshot on the day preceding Bao’s death.

Trump says his supporters were 'violent'

President-elect Donald Trump said Friday his supporters were "violent" during the 2016 campaign. 
Trump made the admission Friday night during a rally here on the Florida leg of his "Thank You" tour. During the campaign, he repeatedly downplayed violent outbursts his supporters displayed at times toward protesters and insisted that paid activists were instead responsible for inciting violence at his rallies. "You people were vicious, violent, screaming, 'Where's the wall? We want the wall!' Screaming, 'Prison! Prison! Lock her up!' I mean you are going crazy. I mean, you were nasty and mean and vicious and you wanted to win, right?" Trump said Friday. "But now, you're mellow and you're cool and you're not nearly as vicious or violent, right? Because we won, right?" During the campaign, Trump repeatedly referred to his rallies as the "safest place on Earth" and called them a "love fest." …

VIASAT 1 Sold & Taken Over By Kwesé Free Sports

African media network Econet Media and MTG (Modern Times Group), a leading international digital entertainment group today announced the conclusion of the sale of MTG’s Ghanaian free-to-air terrestrial channel Viasat 1 and Modern African Productions (MAP) to the Econet Media Group.

Econet Media acquires all MTG assets in Ghana as well as MAP’s operations in Ghana and Nigeria as part of this deal and will retain all staff.

The process will now begin to officially rebrand Viasat 1 to Kwesé Free Sports, Econet Media’s premium free-to-air sports channel within its Kwesé TV network. Kwesé Free Sports is Africa’s first truly Pan-African free-to-air sports channel which is available in 19 countries of which five; Kenya, Rwanda, Malawi, Uganda and now Ghana, have the full 24/7 channel.

Alexis Sanchez rejects Arsenal's £180K-a-week deal as contract talks continue

Alexis Sanchez who currently earns £130K weekly is holding out for a vastly improved deal of of £250K a week and has rejected an offer of £180K weekly. The prolific attacker is central to the Gunners' interest and the club is desperate to tie him down to a long term deal. They are however hesitant to meet his huge demands but remain hopeful a deal can be struck.

 In contrast to Sanchez’s talks, there is a growing confidence at the Emirates that Ozil, 28, will sign a new deal. Wenger is adamant Sanchez and Mesut Ozil — who is also entering the final 18 months of his deal — will not be sold even if they have not penned fresh terms.
