The United States on Thursday expelled 35 Russian diplomats and closed two Russian compounds in New York and Maryland in response to a campaign of harassment by Russia against American diplomats in Moscow, a senior U.S. official said on Thursday.
The U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters the Russian diplomats would be given 72 hours to leave the United States. Adele sparks rumors she's wed

Adele has sparked rumors she's got married. The 'Hello' hitmaker set tongues wagging on Wednesday (12.28.16) when she flashed her new plain gold band on her ring finger - sending rumors that she had tied the knot in a secret ceremony over the festive season into overdrive - as she picked up some tasty food from a health store in Beverly Hills, California.
Although the 28-year-old singer is yet to confirm her new marital status, it won't come as too much of a surprise to fans if she is now married because it was believed she and her longtime partner Simon Konecki were planning to get hitched during the Christmas holidays so his nine-year-old daughter, from a previous relationship, could have a role in the top-secret nuptials.
A source said recently: "The plan is to marry in Los Angeles. The wedding will be in one of the school holidays so Simon's daughter can attend. It's looking like it will be Christmas, but they want to keep details under wraps.

Tears flow as Mahama cuts sod for Eastern Uni.

NDC supporters at Somanya in the Eastern region could not hold back their tears Thursday as President John Mahama arrived in the town to cut sod for the university of Environment and Sustainable Development.
The aggrieved supporters were seen wailing as the president started exchanging pleasantries at the ceremony grounds, Starr News’ Kojo Ansah reported.
The Eastern University was one of President Mahama’s key promises to the people of the Eastern region during the 2012 electioneering.
He said the move was intended to achieve equality since every region, except the Eastern,  had a public university.
But the President failed to see to the end of this promise as the NDC lost heavily in the 2016 electioneering.
The project now stands at the mercy of the incoming NPP  administration led by Nana Akufo-Addo. Meanwhile, the National Executive Committee  of the NDC have called on members of the party to desist from the public blame game over the party’s defeat in the December 7, polls .

Obama beats Trump where it will sting: He’s the most admired man in America

Since Gallup began asking Americans the people they admired the most, there's been a consistent pattern: Whoever was president or president-elect was almost always the man the country admired the most. The most admired woman? Usually someone who had been married to a president.
Only five times has the most admired man in the country not been a president — past, current or elected. And in 2016, the trend continued, with President Obama retaining the title he's held since 2008.
For each of the past 15 years, the most admired woman has been a very particular former first lady: Hillary Clinton. Clinton has been named America's most admired woman 21 times, the most of any winner of the title. It's often been a squeaker, such as when she narrowly edged out Sarah Palin in 2009. But in 2016, as in years past, no woman has been identified as the most admired more than Clinton. (Where two women were tied, only the woman listed first in Gallup's write-ups is shown.)

NDC will force Mahama to contest election 2020 – Vanderpuije

The Minister of Sports Nii Lante Vanderpuije has served notice President John Mahama will return as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate in the 2020 elections, despite a humiliating defeat in the December polls.
Speaking on personality profile show – Starr Chat – on Starr 103.5 FM Wednesday, Mr. Vanderpuije stressed Mahama will be “forced” by party members to stage a comeback because he is the obvious choice to lead the outgoing NDC government.
“We’ll force John Mahama to go,” the MP for Odododiodoo told his host Bola Ray.
The outspoken and controversial lawmaker is optimistic his boss will be on the ballot again in four years’ time, adding there is no way his running mate Kwesi Amissah-Arthur will contest if Mahama declines.
“If John Mahama will not go, Amissah-Arthur will not go,” Mr. Vanderpuije was emphatic, noting that a reverse decision by the outgoing vice president will be a “betrayal” of his boss.
President Mahama lost the 2016 elections by a sh…
