Ghana@60 C’ttee launches documentary on Ghana

The planning committee for Ghana’s 60th anniversary celebration has released a documentary chronicling the history of the country as part of activities to ignite patriotism.

The documentary, titled “From Gold Coast to Ghana: A Glorious History of Self-determination”, spans events from the 15th century, when the Portuguese first engaged with the Gold Coast through the period of Dutch association which lasted for 274 years up until the British colonisation which lasted for 85 years.

According to the committee, the documentary seeks to acknowledge the unsung heroes who contributed to the struggle for independence.

Speaking at the launch of the documentary at the Black Star Square on Wednesday, 1 March the producer of the documentary, Paul Adom-Otchere, said, the film seeks to bring a different perspective to the narrative as far as the struggle for independence is concerned.

According to Mr. Adom-Otchere, the struggle for independence was more of a negotiation and  it was clear the country was going to have independence from British colonial rule but what Dr J.B Danquah and Kwame Nkrumah did was to hasten the process.
