Nana Aba Anamoah partners Tigo Shelter for Education to inspire children to read

It is no secret that Nana Aba Anamoah is an avid reader. She is well known for correcting grammatical errors on social media and has recently even converted her Instagram account (thenanaaba) into an English classroom. It was therefore not a surprise when she announced Raising Readers Ghana – a foundation she set up to encourage children to develop a lifelong interest for reading.

Together with the Tigo Shelter for Education, Nana Aba will be launching the foundation on April 7, 2017 at the Bukom Park in Accra.

In an interview Nana Aba explained ‘getting Tigo on board has been such an amazing development. I get distraught at the the lack of libraries in our communities. Our children are not reading, parents are not reading, teachers do not have the books. I hope and pray people will see reason in this to encourage children in their lives to read. A child who reads, becomes an adult who thinks’.

Tigo Shelter for Education has assisted several communities which hitherto had schools under trees with classroom blocks befitting of teaching and learning.

Nana Aba adds ‘Tigo has motivated many of these children to believe in the power of education and together with Raising Readers, we will make them believe that the more you read, the more you know’.

Raising Readers Ghana is supported by Cowbell, EIB Network and Zoomlion.
