Singer, Songwriter & Poet Davina Oriakhi Unveils ‘F.S.L.S’ Music Video
Introducing London-based British Nigerian singer, songwriter and poet
Davina Oriakhi, with the exciting new music video for her soulful
hip-hop single ‘F.S.L.S’, which was premiered exclusively via Unsigned
Music Awards.
Written as an acronym for ‘Find Self Love Self’, ‘F.S.L.S’ is the second
single to be taken from Davina Oriakhi’s forthcoming debut album Love
To A Mortal, which is set to be released on July 28, following its
well-received lead single ‘Silence (Father Have Mercy)’.
Produced by Albanian musician Gabriel Ryder, mixed and mastered by Shaun
‘Hypertone’ Barrett (Snakehips, Jessie J, Alesha Dixon) and written by
Oriakhi herself, ‘F.S.L.S’ is an infectious offering about
self-discovery, self-acceptance and the journey to self-love. According
to Oriakhi, “it’s different from being cocky, it’s about knowing and
loving yourself enough to love someone else the right way”.
For the ‘F.S.L.S’ video, Davina Oriakhi has collaborated with burgeoning
director Loraa White (Davido, JLS, Tiwa Savage) to create a vibrant and
colourful visual offering that is a perfect fit for the summer, and
brings the life-affirming message on ‘F.S.L.S’ further to life. Shot in
the effervescent Shoreditch area, the visuals also highlight Davina’s
fun and carefree personality, and give us but a small glimpse into the
exciting artist that is Davina Oriakhi.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the ‘F.S.L.S’ single and visuals,
Davina Oriakhi says, “the process of writing the entire LP involved a
journey of self love, self discovery and self acceptance, and this short
sweet song ‘F.S.L.S’ encapsulates the questions I asked, and the
lessons I learnt. The video is my own cute edgy way of showing someone
spend time with oneself – which is a very important thing to do”.
Aptly described as a musically fluid and soulful lyricist writing songs
about life, love and spirituality, Davina Oriakhi has steadily been
winning over hearts and minds across Europe and Africa, since her
critically acclaimed 2014 debut single ‘Content’, which has since been
followed up with ‘Juju’ and ‘Silence (Father Have Mercy)’ to rave
reviews, and now ‘F.S.L.S’. Her forthcoming debut album Love To A Mortal
is one to look out for this year.
