#ChaleWote festival slated for August 14
Chale Wote, Ghana’s annual alternative platform for art, music, dance and performance returns August 14 -16.
This year, the event is held under the theme “Wata Mata”, and
features installations from over 30 Ghana-based artists and include
the participation of artists from South Africa, Zambia, Nigeria, the
U.S., France, Australia, Kenya, Canada, Poland, Argentina and
Brazil.
Attended by thousands every year, it is also graced by several
celebrities. Last year, high-profile attendees included KOD, Deborah
Vanessa, Wanlov the Kubolor, Nana Yaa, M.anifest, Blitz the Ambassador,
Berimah Sydney, Herald Amenya, Pappy Kojo, Epixode, DJ Blow, among
others.
Started in 2011, the Chale Wote Street Arts Festival aims at
promoting alternative art through street painting, graffiti murals,
photography, theater, spoken word, interactive art installations, live
street performances, extreme sports, film shows, a fashion parade, a
music block party, recyclable design workshops, among others.
