Hurricane Harvey victim curses out CNN reporter for interviewing her
A woman, who said she was stranded "for five days" in the Hurricane
Harvey devastation, broke down and lashed out at a CNN reporter for
interviewing her on live TV.
The mother, introduced as Danielle, said she waited for police to
come rescue them but when they did not arrive after 36 hours, she walked
through "four feet of water" with her two young children to make it to a
gas station and then to a shelter, just to get food.
"We were waiting for the police for like 36 hours and they never
came. We walked to the gas station and someone picked us up. But we had
been there for like five days with no food, no lights and nobody came."
The reporter then asks: "Now, you’re with your children. We’ve heard
stories of mothers trying to save their children from the rushing
waters. Can you tell us how that was?"
At this, the distraught woman lashed out saying: "We walked through
four feet of water to get them food on the first day — yeah, that’s a
lot of shit. But y’all sit here, y’all try and interview people at their
worst times, that’s not the smartest thing to do. Like people are
really breaking down and y’all are sitting here with cameras and
microphones trying to ask us what the fuck is wrong with us."
The reporter repeatedly apologizes but positions the microphone back
in front of the mum to ask another question and this angers her.
The mom said: "And you’re really trying to understand — with the
microphone still in my face, with me shivering cold, with my kids wet —
and you’re still putting the microphone in my face."
She walks off at that point and the CNN news anchor says: "It sounds
like you’ve got a very upset family there, we’re going to take a break
from that."
