Following the life-threatening Hurricane Harvey that struck Texas,
thousands of people who are currently trapped on their rooftops in
Houston, are pleading for help on social media.
According to reports, the storm swept into Texas as a Category 4
hurricane over the weekend, but continued its relentless devastation in
Houston on Sunday as the catastrophic flooding forced evacuations.
Many trapped residents are pleading on social media for help, as the
Houston police department have urged the public to donate their boats in
other to rescue victims after they received 6,000 calls for rescues.
The storm has claimed the lives at least five people while the
Galveston County alone estimates that up to 1,200 people had to be
rescued so far.
Mail Online also reports that the storm has already dumped a historic
11 trillion gallons of water on Texas with another 27 inches of rain
falling so far and another 23 inches expected to come within the next
few days.
FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, revealed it would take
the area years to recover from the storm which is the worst this
decade.
