Senegalese singer, Amy Dieng arrested for insulting their president

A popular Senegalese singer, Amy Colle Dieng has been arrested after she shared an audio recording on WhatsApp in which she is alleged to have made insulting comments about President Macky Sall.

Amy Dieng is said to have shared the controversial content in a WhatsApp message group for supporters of Karim Wade, the son of former president Abdoulaye Wade who is currently exiled in Qatar.

Opon her arrest, she admitted to police that she made the insulting remarks. She is currently being held by the national police's criminal investigations unit.
