Govt Sends Major Mahama’s Wife On Foreign Mission
Barbara Mahama, wife of the slain Ghanaian young military commander,
has been offered a job to work with one of Ghana’s foreign missions.
The Defense Minister Dominic Nitiwul, who made the disclosure, said
the move is to help the widow and her children deal with the trauma.
Barbara, who has a communication background, opted to work with one
of Ghana’s missions after a number of options was laid on the table for
her to decide on.
“We gave her options; she is into communications so we gave her
options, she said she wanted a particular job at the Foreign Ministry
and we put her there. The idea is to take her completely away from this
country for some time so that she does not keep remembering those
problems that are there,” Mr Nitiwul stated in the Western region.
Meanwhile, the government has established a trust fund in the name of
the late Major Adam Mahama. The fund which will be called ‘Major Mahama
Trust Fund’ will cater for his wife and children.
Major Mahama, 32, was lynched at Denkyira-Boase during an early
morning jogging by locals who suspected he was an armed robber after
sighting a sidearm on him.
Forty-two persons have since been arrested over the nefarious act
and are standing trial for murder and attempt to commit murder.
