“It's about having a voice.” That’s how beautifully George Jones captures the essence of this gift. But the questions is what does he mean by having a voice? What’s the essence of the voice?

The quote exposes something very significant in the human life that has been ignored by many scholars and authors for many years. It has identified a valuable piece in everyone and thus it’s safe to conclude that we all have got a voice right from birth whether you can speak or not since voice is within. 

However, there's  a significant difference between a voice and the voice. Everyone has got a voice but not everyone has the voice. According to google, voice is a sound produced in a person's larynx and uttered through the mouth, as speech or song and hence a voice is a particular opinion or attitude expressed. 

I am here this day to talk about what I meant by the voice. Its is very pertinent to note that you can only have the voice when you have integrity and  that integrity will make many listen to you when your opinion or attitude is expressed. 

What then is integrity? We can safely once again admit that integrity involves doing whatever is right even when nobody is watching. It amounts to the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. Integrity is doing the right thing even when it can cost you your life. 

I know by now you are wondering what integrity has got to do with the voice. Note this, There is a voice inside of you that whispers all day long.  “I feel that this is right for me, I know that this is wrong.” Are lessons no teacher, preacher, parent, friend or wise man can teach you or otherwise. 

All it takes is for you to just listen to the voice that speaks true to your soul and being. That is integrity!

When you begin to listen to the voice and do the difficult things just because they are right, means you've got it in you. It means you have nothing to fear, because you have nothing to hide. 

With integrity, you do the right thing, so you will have no guilt and as a result you begin to utter your words with confidence. 

If you do what you preach and preach what you do, that would  give you the voice to speak and when you speak, your reputation (integrity) would precede you and people will listen to you. 

So many people have their voices compromised by their actions and in actions and hence when they talk, there is no yearn from the audience to be heard again. 

You are a reflection of what you do and say.  Integrity gives you the pivot to air your opinion about relevant issues with your back against the wall.

Inculcate in you that attitude of having an eye for integrity. I am talking to the next you, who is under training to become a leader. What's inside of you that the voice will push you to speak without looking back on simply because you listened to it?

The time is now to raise generations who can value integrity and make it a part of their lives. 

It takes a simple act of listening to that tiny but most important part of your soul to make your life as white as a snow. 

However, the choice is not mine. If it were, I’d listen to the voice!

Mind you, Success without integrity is failure just as "wisdom is knowing the right path. Integrity is taking it to give you the voice to speak".

Raise yourself to be that Voice with integrity.
