To this end the President in an open invitation to all men and boys across all communities in Ghana as well as all decisions makers in Ghana's national life, law makers, traditional leaders and the entire nation to become champions of women's rights and agents of change in and out of the country's borders.

The participants welcomed the pledge of the President with a loud clap as a sign of support for the promise made by the President.

The Three Thematic Areas

President Akufo Addo identified the three focus areas of the "HeforShe" platform for action in Ghana and assured that they have his full support. The three areas are; end of child marriage and negative cultural and traditional practices, to increase women's participation and representation in political decision making spheres and to increase women's economic empowerment through capacity building and a healthy business environment.

HeForShe Campaign

The HeForShe campaign is aimed at mobilizing over two million men in Ghana and one billion men globally to stand up and support women and take actions that lead to empowerment and gender equality for both men and women. For Ghana to achieve gender equality there is the need to create a conducive and enabling environment where men and boys will rise in support of women and girls; where men will support their women to do the household chores like helping to cook for the family, going grocery shopping, preparing the children for school, supporting their women to climb the economic ladder, supporting girls’ education and skills development and encouraging the general growth of women and girls.
