US actress Mary Tyler Moore dies aged 80

US Emmy award-winning actress Mary Tyler Moore has died aged 80, her publicist says. She was best known for her television roles in the 1960s sitcom The Dick Van Dyke Show and the eponymous The Mary Tyler Moore Show in the 1970s. 
She was also nominated for a best actress Oscar in 1980 for the film Ordinary People. 
Mara Buxbaum said in a statement she died in the company of friends and her husband, Dr S. Robert Levine.
She had suffered from diabetes since her 30s and underwent brain surgery in 2011.
'Changed television'
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Moore moved to Los Angeles when she was eight years old and started her career in show business as a dancer aged 17. 
Her first appearance was in a Hotpoint advert in the 1950s, dressed as an elf. 
But her parts grew in size during that decade, before she landed the role of wife Laura Petrie in The Dick Van Dyke Show in 1961.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Meets Pope Francis at the Vatican

Arnold Schwarzenegger, former governor of California and action movie giant, greeted Pope Francis at the Vatican during the weekly General Audience.
Schwarzenegger has been promoting his NGO, “R20 – Regions of Climate Action”which helps sub-national governments around the world develop low carbon projects, Vatican Radio reports. Schwarzenegger showed Pope Francis some of the NGO’s work in a brief exchange.

Madonna applies to adopt two children

Pop star Madonna has applied to adopt two more children in Malawi. The 58-year-old appeared in court in the Malawian capital Lilongwe to make the application.
She previously adopted two children from the African country: David Banda in 2006 and Mercy James in 2009. The star has two other children - Lourdes and Rocco - from previous relationships. Last year saw her involved in a custody dispute over Rocco with ex-husband Guy Ritchie.
She eventually lost the case, with the 16-year-old moving to London to live with his father. 'Embarrassment of riches' Madonna has yet to comment on her attempts to adopt two further children, but a government spokesman confirmed the singer had appeared in High Court on Wednesday.
She flew into the country on Tuesday, fresh from the Women's March in Washington, where her comments on Donald Trump caused an uproar.

Kuwait hangs seven people including royal

Kuwait on Wednesday hanged seven people including a member of the ruling family and a woman who burned dozens of people to death during a wedding party, state media said.
They are the first executions in the oil-rich Gulf state since mid-2013.
Those executed included two Kuwaitis, two Egyptians and one each from Bangladesh, the Philippines and Ethiopia, the KUNA state news agency reported, citing a source at the public prosecution.
Sheikh Faisal Abdullah Al-Sabah, the first royal to be executed in the emirate, was convicted of killing another member of the ruling family in 2010 over a dispute.
Nusra al-Enezi, the other Kuwaiti, was convicted of setting fire to a tent in 2009 during a wedding party for her husband, killing around 57 people, many of them women and children.

Bruno Mars to Perform at 2017 Grammy Awards

Bruno Mars will perform at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 12, the Recording Academy has announced. 
This will mark the Grammy-winning superstar's fifth Grammy performance and his fist in four years. He is also nominated in this year's album of the year category for his work on Adele's 25. 
Mars joins previously announced performers Adele, John Legend, Metallica, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban.

Akufo-Addo Names COP Asante-Apeatu As New IGP

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has named COP David Asante-Apeatu as the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Man jailed for hacking into Jennifer Lawrence's online account

A man's been jailed for nine months for hacking into the online accounts of celebrities, including Jennifer Lawrence. Edward Majerczyk, 29, stole private information, including nude videos and photos. 
He was accused of organising a phishing scheme that tricked victims into giving him usernames and passwords. 
Majerczyk, from Chicago, was ordered to pay one unnamed celebrity £4,900 after their photos were later shared online. 
He wasn't charged or accused of selling or posting the material online. 
He pleaded guilty last year to one count of unauthorised access to a protected computer to obtain information. 
No victims' names were mentioned in the court documents. In 2014, private pictures of celebrities including Lawrence, Kirsten Dunst and model Kate Upton were posted online and shared on various websites. 
The case became known as "celebgate", with Jennifer Lawrence telling Vanity Fair magazine that the hacking was a "sex crime".

Police nab ‘cab driver' who masterminded robbery of gold dealer

Police in Brong Ahafo Region have captured two people who were a piece of a posse that burglarized a gold merchant at gunpoint.
