Kenya threatens legal action against American series '24 Legacy' for using Westgate attack clip

The Kenya Films Classification Board (KFCB) has threatened to take legal action against the new American series '24 Legacy' for using a clip of the Westgate mall terror attack. In a statement released today, the head of KFCB, Ezekiel Mutua condemned the broadcaster, FOX TV, for evoking the painful memories of the tragic terror attack. 'The Board regards the movie as a repulsive, insensitive and reckless piece of art that heartlessly evokes the painful memories of the tragic terror attack. It flies in the face of basic consideration of human dignity, in total disregard of the feelings of the victims and their families.
In the statement, he also demanded an immediate pull down of the clip.
'The Kenya Film Classification Board takes great exception to this unfortunate and unprofessional video by 24 Legacy and demands that the airing of the video be suspended forthwith.'

Pope suggests it's better to be an atheist than a bad Christian

If you're a Christian who exploits people, leads a double life or manages a "dirty" business, perhaps it's better not to call yourself a believer, Pope Francis suggested in a homily on Thursday in Rome.
"So many Christians are like this, and these people scandalize others," Francis said during morning Mass at Casa Santa Marta, according to Vatican Radio. "How many times have we heard -- all of us, around the neighborhood and elsewhere -- 'But to be a Catholic like that, it's better to be an atheist.' It is that, scandal."
"But what is scandal? Scandal is saying one thing and doing another."  In the Catholic Church, it's also a grave offense. Examples of such sins abound, the Pope said, from money launderers to business owners who take beach vacations while stiffing their employees.  Francis' sermon, as is customary, was an extended riff on Thursday's Mass readings, which include a passage from the Gospel on M…

Annie~Joy writes:The Related Issues Of The Struggled Person. Be Inspired!

It’s always hard to get a helping hand when you are climbing the ladder of life. Some gets someone already on the top of the ladder who helps in their climbing while others don't get such an opportunity. If you will bear with me, normally majority of those who do not get a helping reaches the VERY TOP.  There is always happiness filled at the new level when you get to the top of the ladder. That's when you get the people whom could have helped and believed in you during the time you needed help coming around you and appreciating you as if his or her effort was involved. Funny is sometimes there are people whom you personally went to seek help from and they turned you down. Therefore; because you didn't give up you were able to make it. You are human.  I know how it feel when they come around and you remember the disappointments, the look-down and the awful attitude kept towards you which makes you feel like paying them back. Just the way they treated you. You j…

Four Indonesians richer than poorest 100 million

A report on inequality in Indonesia says its four richest men now have more wealth than 100 million of the country's poorest people.
The report by Oxfam said Indonesia, with a population of more than 250 million, has the sixth-worst inequality in the world. Within Asia, only Thailand is more unequal.
It blames "market fundamentalism" that has allowed the richest to capture most of the benefits of nearly two decades of strong economic growth, concentration of land ownership and pervasive gender inequality.

In 2016, the wealthiest 1 percent of the population owned nearly half (49 percent) of total wealth, the report said.
In just one day, the richest Indonesian man can earn from interest on his wealth over one thousand times more than what the poorest Indonesians spend on their basic needs for an entire year.

The investment returns on the wealth of just one of the four richest, which according to the Forbes rich list include cigarette tycoons Budi Hartono, Michael Ha…

Melania Trump re-files Daily Mail lawsuit without controversial wording

Lawyers for US First Lady Melania Trump have re-filed a defamation case against UK newspaper Daily Mail.
The new complaint drops wording that said Mrs Trump missed a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" to profit from her brand, due to a Daily Mail article.
The initial complaint had led critics to question if she intended to gain financially from being first lady.
The Daily Mail had reported allegations that she once worked as an escort, but later retracted its article.
Mrs Trump is still seeking damages of $150m (£120m).
The suit initially said that Mrs Trump had the "unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity... to launch a broad-based commercial brand in multiple product categories, each of which could have garnered multi-million dollar business relationships for a multi-year term during which [she] is one of the most photographed women in the world".
The products categories would have included apparel, accessories, shoes, jewellery, cosmetics, hair care, skin care a…

Uk Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, Commends Ghanaian Bamboo Bike Maker

On his recent visit to Ghana to deepen bilateral relations between Ghana and the United Kingdom, Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson took a ride on one of the bamboo bikes produced by the internationally recognized Ghanaian manufacturing company Booomers International Ltd.

This happened during an interaction section with a few small and medium enterprises in Ghana supported by the UKAID. As a great biker himself, he became fascinated with the make and the design of the bikes and decided to take a ride on the bike which he later described as very light and comfortable.

Mr. Boris Johnson was very optimistic a product like that of Booomers will do very well on the UK market and therefore encouraged the Chief Executive Officer of Boomers International, Mr. Kwabena Danso to tap into the opportunities that exist in the UK to expand the company’s market base.

Among the dignitaries who were with Mr. Boris included the UK Trade Envoy to Africa, Mr. Adam Afiriyie and the British Hig…

Kanye West Crucifix Statue Appears in Hollywood a Block From Dolby Theatre

According to The Hollywood Reporter, anonymous street artist Plastic Jesus crucified Kanye West on Wednesday morning at the corner of Hollywood and La Brea, where he installed his annual rip on the Oscars just days before the ceremony on Feb. 26.
This year's takedown was erected under the familiar art deco sculpture that marks the intersection, and features a life-sized version of the familiar gold Oscar sculpture crucified on a pedestal reading "False Idol."

Replacing the usually faceless figure is the likeness of Kanye West wearing a crown of thorns, though some tourists had trouble recognizing the pop star.

It happened quickly at around 10:30 a.m. PT, when a pickup parked in a nearby lot and artists carried the work in pieces through the crosswalk, assembling it in a matter of minutes. Few seemed to notice, though tourists paused for pictures with the piece, unaware that it was anything out of the ordinary.

"Kanye is a genius. He is a brilliant writer and pr…

Minority condemns arrests over leaked Invincible Forces video

The Minority in Parliament has kicked against the arrest of an unspecified number of persons accused of releasing a video in which NPP’s Invincible Forces attacked a police officer at the seat of the Presidency.
The NDC released the CCTV footage a fortnight ago as evidence to back claims of gross lawlessness by NPP supporters in the aftermath of the elections.
The video is believed to have been captured on January 9, 2017, and it shows the private security detail of the NPP, the Invincible Forces, force out a state security personnel, one ASP Bruce Nanka, amid efforts by other police officers to restore order.
ASP Nanka was part of the guards at the Flagstaff House during the John Mahama administration.
The latter part of the two minutes and thirty-two seconds video captures how some unseen faces broke into the garage of ASP Nanka and towed away two of his vehicles.
Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, said the NDC have been informed that some persons suspected to have leaked the vi…

Pope appeals for urgent food aid for famine-stricken South Sudan

Pope Francis has called for urgent humanitarian aid for the starving people of South Sudan, saying millions risked being 'condemned to death' by a famine in parts of the war-ravaged country. This comes after UN aid agencies had declared that famine in South Sudan has left 100,000 people on the verge of starvation and almost 5 million people, more than 40% of the country's population, in need of urgent help.
In his weekly audience, where he spoke to thousands of people at the St.Peter's Square, today, February 22, 2017, the holy father said:

'Now more than ever there should be a commitment by everyone to not just talk but contribute food aid and allow it to reach suffering populations.'
He said millions of people, including many children, were being 'condemned to death by hunger' and they should be urgently helped.

Astronomers find seven Earth-size planets where life is possible

Astronomers have found a nearby solar system with seven Earth-sized planets, three of which circle their parent star at the right distance for liquid surface water, bolstering the prospect of discovering extraterrestrial life, research published on Wednesday showed.

The star, known as TRAPPIST-1, is a small, dim celestial body in the constellation Aquarius. It is located about 40 light years away from Earth, close by astronomical standards, but about 44 million years away at the average cruising speed of a commercial passenger jet.

Researchers said the proximity of the system, combined with the proportionally large size of its planets compared to the small star, make it a good target for follow-up studies. They hope to scan the planets' atmospheres for possible chemical fingerprints of life.

"The discovery gives us a hint that finding a second Earth is not just a matter of if, but when,” NASA chief scientist Thomas Zurbuchen said at a news conference on Wednesday…
