Winner Of Face Of AFWk Grace Quaye Set To Walk London Fashion Week This Year

Grace Quaye is set to rock London Fashion Week this year. Winner of last years Face of Accra Fashion Week will be heading off to the UK later this year to participate in their grand fashion events during London Fashion Week S/S18 show.

The announcement came when organizers of Accra Fashion Week got in touch with a number of designers interested in Grace Quaye whom are now willing to finance her accommodation and travel to be present at their shows.

Manchester Arena bomber named as British Libyan jihadist, Salman Abedi

The suicide bomber responsible for last night's terrorist attack at the Manchester Arena has been identified and named as Salman Abedi. The 22-year-old detonated a bomb just towards the end of Ariana Grande's concert, leading to the death of 22 people with many others injured.

Abedi's identity was revealed after teams of armed cops swooped on his address in Fallowfield, Manchester. Theresa May had earlier stated that the attacker was known to the authorities prior to the attack and that security services were working to establish if he was acting alone or as part of a terror cell. The police have already arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the attack as investigation continues.

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has released a statement following Monday’s attack at the Manchester Arena in which a suicide bomber killed 22 people. The statement reads,  'UEFA is shocked by last night’s attack in Manchester. Our thoughts are with the victims and the families of those affected.

Bystander leads 50 teens to safety in aftermath of Manchester Arena bombing

A member of the public has been praised for her actions following reports that she led a number of unaccompanied youngsters to safety in the immediate aftermath of the suicide bombing at Manchester Arena on Monday evening.
Paula Robinson, 48, from West Dalton, told the Manchester Evening News she was at Manchester Victoria railway station, close to the arena, when the attack took place.

Convicted Nigerian fraudster James Ibori wins £1 from UK

Convicted fraudster and former Nigerian state governor James Ibori has been awarded £1 ($1.30) for being unlawfully detained for 42 hours in the UK.
Ibori was jailed in the UK for fraud totalling nearly £50m in 2012.
He was due to be released on 20 December but instead was held in immigration detention.

Veteran actor Kofi Bucknor has died

Veteran actor Charles Kofi Bucknor, has died, according to reports.
There are conflicting accounts as to when he died. There are reports that he passed away Monday, May 22 at the 37 Military Hospital whilst others say he died Tuesday, May 23.
The cause of his death is also unknown.

Legendary James Bond actor, Sir Roger Moore has died at the age of 89,  his family has announced.

In a statement posted on the British actor's official social media accounts, it was revealed that Moore passed away today in Switzerland after a "short but brave battle with cancer".

Former Barcelona President, Sandro Rosell has been arrested

Former Barcelona President, Sandro Rosell, has been arrested as part of a money-laundering investigation.

According to Spanish newspaper El Confidencial, the arrests are part of a joint operation between the Spanish police and the FBI, related to the United States-led investigation into corruption at FIFA.

UK police says death toll at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester has risen to 22

Last night's attack outside an Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena in London was initially reported to have killed 19 people, now British Police confirms that the death toll has risen to 22 including children, and was carried out by a lone suspect carrying a bomb.

Manchester Police Chief, Constable Ian Hopkin said "the attacker, I can confirm, died at the arena. We believe the attacker was carrying an improvised explosive device, which he detonated, causing this atrocity".

Park Geun-hye: S Korea trial of impeached president begins

The ousted president faces charges including bribery, abusing state power and leaking state secrets.

Fake soldiers arrested for assaulting residents in Central Region

Two men who posed as soldiers are in the grips of the Kasoa Divisional Police Command after assaulting and threatening residents in Gomoa Ojobi in the Central region.
The two suspects are part of five persons held by the police in Kasoa for unleashing terror on residents as a result of a land dispute in the area.
Speaking in an interview with Starr News’ Central regional Correspondent Kwaku Baah-Acheamfour, the district police commander for Kosoa ACP Dennis Akob-Deb explained that the dispute is between one Madam Brakuaa, whose bidding was being done by the suspects, and her son Kow Egyiri.

South African Doctors perform 2nd Successful Penis Transplant

A team of South African doctors from Stellenbosch University (SU) and the Tygerberg AcademicHospital made history recently after performing a second successful penis transplant, making it the first medical center in the world to achieve this feat twice.
This comes after the world’s first successful penis transplant was done on December 11, 2014, at the same facility and by the same team of doctors.

Police have confirmed 19 dead and 50 injured following a reported explosion at Ariana Grande's concert Monday night (May 22) at the U.K.'s Manchester Arena. Grande has been confirmed safe by her rep, but the reported blast in the foyer area of the arena impacted dozens of fans scrambling to exit.
Music stars, including Katy Perry, Demi Lovato and Cher, took to Twitter after the news was reported to send prayers and well-wishes.

Ebola Outbreak: Fourth deaths recorded in the Democratic Republic of Congo

The World Health Organization (WHO) on Monday announced that a fourth person has died in the Ebola virus outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

WHO's spokesman, Eugene Kabambi made the disclosure while revealing that 37 suspected cases are currently being monitored since the virus resurfaced on the 12th of May in the north-eastern Bas-Uele province.

Gambian ex-President Yahya Jammeh 'stole $50m' from state

The Gambia's former president stole "at least" $50m (£38.4m) from the state before he left the country in January, the justice minister has said.
Yahya Jammeh is accused of withdrawing the money via a state telecoms company.
A court has ordered all his remaining assets in The Gambia to be frozen.

Thousands of Ariana Grande fans experienced a frightening concert experience Monday evening when two loud bangs described as "explosions" rocked the arena. sending scores of people running for safety. 
According to various attendees tweeting from the Manchester Arena in the United Kingdom, a loud sound was heard prompting several fans to leave the area. Police were called and rushed out to the scene.
