Bradley Lowery: Sunderland fan dies after long illness

Six-year-old Bradley Lowery, whose plight touched the lives of many people, has died after a long illness.
The Sunderland fan was diagnosed with neuroblastoma - a rare type of cancer - when he was 18 months old. 
Bradley went on to be the club's mascot and became "best mates" with his hero, striker Jermain Defoe.

The reigning Miss South Africa, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters has sparked a controversy on social media after she was pictured wearing disposable gloves while she was with black kids at an orphanage home.

Demi-Leigh, who's a white South African was on Wednesday spotted at an event hosted by Sun International at a children’s home in Soweto, serving food and interacting with children at the orphanage while wearing latex gloves.

US lifts visa restrictions on Gambian robotics students

Gambian students who were twice denied visas to travel to the US for a robotics competition are celebrating after permission was granted. See previous report ( Read here)
The team will now go to Washington DC and show off their invention. The reasons for the initial rejections are unclear.
Gambia is a Muslim majority country but it is not on the US's six-country travel ban, which was introduced by President Donald Trump.

Ghana satellite into space launched

Ghana's first satellite into space has been launched, opening a new frontier in its quest for space exploration.
GhanaSat-1, which weighs 1 kg (2.2lb), was launched from the International Space Station, to wild cheers from the Ghanaian engineers and an audience of about 400 who watched a live broadcast of the event from an auditorium in the Eastern Region of Koforidua, Ghana.

Korle Bu Dental surgeon found dead in hotel room

A Dental Surgeon at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has been found dead in a hotel room at Dansoman in Accra.
Information gathered indicates that the doctor checked into the hotel with a woman Thursday evening but the mysterious woman left an hour before the body of the doctor was found in the hotel room.

A Teenage Rape Survivor in El Salvador Has Been Jailed for 30 Years

A judge in El Salvador — where abortion is illegal in all circumstances — has sent a 19-year-old rape survivor to 30 years in jail because her baby was stillborn, on the grounds that her failure to get prenatal care amounted to homicide.
High schooler Evelyn Beatriz Hernandez Cruz, 18 at the time of childbirth, reportedly gave birth in a bathroom last April after a bout of acute pain in her stomach and back. She hadn’t realized that she was in the third trimester of a pregnancy, the Guardian reports.

Sudan's Fifa ban disrupts African Champions League

Football's world governing body Fifa has banned Sudan because of government interference in the sport.
A warning was issued last month after the government installed a new FA president.
The suspension means that Friday's two African champions league matches, both featuring Sudanese clubs, will not now go ahead.

At least 28 inmates have been killed in a brutal prison fight in the Mexican Pacific resort of Acapulco, in one of the worst outbreaks of violence in the country's troubled penal system in recent years.
Rioting inmates beheaded and mutilated their rivals on Thursday and bodies were found strewn around the maximum-security wing, the kitchen, a prison yard and a conjugal visits area after the pre-dawn riot at the CERESO federal prison in Acapulco, said the security spokesman for the state of Guerrero, Roberto Alvarez.

Court Grants Emergency Protective Order for Venus Williams in Wrongful Death Case

A Palm Beach County judge granted an emergency protective order for Venus Williams, temporarily keeping her car out of the hands of inspectors. Williams is the target of a wrongful death lawsuit following a car crash that killed 78-year-old Jerome Barsons. Lawyers for Barsons’ wife Linda wanted their experts to look at and download information from Williams’ car on Wednesday, resulting in the emergency motion and order.

Woman pleads guilty to killing social worker, 3 family members

A Vermont woman, Jody Herring, has pleaded guilty to four murder counts in the killings of a social worker and three of her family members in 2015. Thursday, in Barre, Vermont, Herring admitted to killing the 4 victims and pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree murder.

G20: Trump and Putin to meet face to face for first time

US President Donald Trump is to have his first face-to-face encounter with Russia's leader, Vladimir Putin, at a G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany.

Seven perish in Kpong-Tema road accident in Eastern Region

Seven persons have died in a  head-on collision on the Tema-Kpong road.
Ten other persons who were seriously injured in the Wednesday crash are receiving treatment at the Akuse government Hospital.
The accident occurred wehn a DAF truck traveling  from Tema to Kpong  collided with a Toyata Hiace transporting passengers from the opposite direction of the same.

A new report claims that each Instagram post of Cristiano Ronaldo,  Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner, earns them over £300,000.

The research which was carried out by Instagram schedulers, Hopper, puts the Real Madrid's striker third in their top-10 earners' list, behind only singer Selena Gomez and Kim Kardashian.
