The flagbearer for the People’s National Convention (PNC)  for the 2016 elections Dr. Edward Mahama has been appointed an ambassador by President Akufo-Addo.
The long-running presidential candidate is henceforth an Ambassador at Large of the republic of Ghana.
An ambassador at Large is an ambassador with special duties not appointed to a particular country.

'Run the Rock 2020' forms to draft Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson for president

A campaign committee has formally filed to draft actor and former WWE wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson for president.
"Run the Rock 2020," the name of the official organization, was filed Sunday on behalf of Johnson with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) on Sunday, according to FEC records.

Trump spars with Chelsea Clinton over Ivanka's G20 seat

US President Donald Trump and former first daughter Chelsea Clinton have sparred over his decision to seat his daughter at a summit of world leaders.
Mr Trump tweeted that his decision to allow his daughter to take his seat at the meeting in Hamburg was "very standard".
He also said the media would have cheered "CHELSEA FOR PRES!" if Hillary Clinton had made the same choice.

International Olympic Committee Awards 2018-2024 Exclusive Broadcast Rights To SuperSport

SuperSport has acquired pay TV media rights in Sub-Saharan Africa for the next two Olympic Games and Winter Olympic Games.

This renewed partnership with the International Olympic Committee will take in the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 and the Olympic Games in 2024 in a city yet to be selected.

The announcement follows the completion of a competitive tender in the region.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged Qatar to take immediate steps to stop the maltreatment of Ghanaians in that Gulf State.
President Akufo-Addo made the call when he interacted with the Ambassador of Qatar to Ghana, H.E. Mohammed Jaber Al- Kuwari at the Flagstaff House at a ceremony to receive his credentials as the first Qatari Ambassador to Ghana.

Kenyan MPs to get 15% pay cut

Kenyan MPs, who are some of the best paid lawmakers in the world, are to get a pay cut intended to reduce the public wage bill.
The MPs' $7,200 (£5,500) monthly pay will be cut by 15% and they will lose some generous allowances. 
The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) said that the salary review was part of a plan to reduce Kenya's public sector wages by 35%.

Twenty-five-year-old Ghanaian beauty queen, Rebecca Asamoah, was crowned first runner-up at the 2017 edition of Miss United Nations international pageant held in Kingston Jamaica over the weekend.

She beat several other contestants from different countries to come close to winning the ultimate crown which went to Olga Makhlevskaia from Russia.

Mexican queen, Irais Carbajal, also took the second runner-up position at the Saturday night event.

According to the London Fire Brigade, 'Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters and officers were called to a fire in Camden Lock Market at just before midnighton Sunday evening. The first, second and third floors, plus the roof, of a building within the market had caught fire and damaged by the blaze. Donald Trump Jr 'met Russia lawyer for Clinton information'

US President Donald Trump's son agreed to meet a Kremlin-linked Russian lawyer last year after being promised damaging information about Hillary Clinton, the New York Times reports.
Donald Trump Jr said he met Natalia Veselnitskaya but that "no meaningful information" on Mrs Clinton was shared.
Also at the meeting was the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner and then-campaign head Paul J Manafort. US officials are investigating alleged Russian meddling in the US election.

US laptop ban lifted on Kuwait Airways and Royal Jordanian

Kuwait Airways and Royal Jordanian have become the latest Middle Eastern airlines to let passengers take laptops in the cabin on US-bound flights.
Both carriers said they had worked with US officials to tighten security checks on flights from Kuwait and Jordan.
The US imposed the ban in March on direct flights from eight mainly Muslim countries to address fears that bombs could be concealed in the devices.

'Roots' actor Ji-Tu Cumbuka dies at 77

Ji-Tu Cumbuka, the actor known for his role of Wrestler in the ABC miniseries Roots, has died at the age of 77. Cumbuka died Tuesday, July 4 in Atlanta, Georgia, according to his niece Amber Holifield in a Facebook post. She wrote:
