The Lead Member Of The 1990s Group 2 Live Crew, Fresh Kid Ice, Has Died

Fresh Kid Ice, a founding member of the Miami hip hop group 2 Live Crew, has died at 53.
His manager DJ Debo confirmed his Thursday death to USA TODAY but did not provide details as to the cause.
Born Chris Wong Won in 1964, the biracial Fresh Kid Ice was hip hop's first notable rapper of Asian descent thanks to his Cantonese grandfather, also going by the name "The Chinaman."

Angolan president's son-in-law 'convicted of fraud in DR Congo'

The son-in-law of Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos told Reuters news agency that a Congolese court has sentenced him in absentia to one year in prison for real estate fraud.
Sindika Dokolo told Reuters that Wednesday's verdict was politically motivated. 
He has criticised the Democratic Republic of Congo President Joseph Kabila after he refused to step down from power.

2 Ghanaian students duped by fake russian university agent

The National Security Ministry has warned Ghanaian students desirous of pursuing further studies in Eastern European countries to be cautious of some persons parading as recruitment agents with the aim to help them gain admission. 
A statement issued and signed by the National Security Minister, Mr Albert Kan-Dapaah, said two Ghanaian nationals; Charles Nketsia and Samuel Zunweri have been recently conned by one Laud Tettey Nagatey.

China's Nobel laureate Liu Xiaobo dies: official

Chinese Peace Prize laureate Liu Xiaobo, a prominent dissident since the 1989 Tiananmen Square pro-democracy protests, has died from multiple organ failure, having not been allowed to leave the country for treatment for late-stage liver cancer.
Already seriously ill, Liu was moved last month from prison to a hospital in the northeastern city of Shenyang to be treated.

Man Dies After Consuming Pregnant Cat Meat In Brong-Ahafo Region

The community of Asare in the Jaman South District of Brong-Ahafo Region in Ghana, are mourning the death of one Kwadwo Robert who allegedly died after consuming the meat of a pregnant cat.
Kwadwo, 30, who's popularly known in the community as Asampian started putting up a strange display after he ate the meat. He was reportedly rushed to the Sampa Government Hospital but died on arrival on Wednesday.

Zimbabwe's state-owned airline has laid off 200 workers, roughly half of its staff, with immediate effect.
The job losses are part of a turnaround strategy to bring struggling Air Zimbabwe back to profitability from a $300m (£230m) debt. 
Last month the EU banned it from using its airspace, citing safety concerns.

Afghan girls robotics team given US visa after outrage

US officials have decided to allow a group of Afghan girls - whose visa applications had been twice rejected - to travel to the country and participate in an international robotics competition, ending a saga that had sparked international backlash.
Homeland Security Department spokesman David Lapan said the US Citizenship and Immigration Services approved a State Department request for six girls from the war-torn country to be allowed in, along with their chaperone, so they can participate in the competition.

1 feared dead in Asante Kotoko team bus crash

At least one person is reported dead as the team bus of Ghana giants Asante Kotoko rammed into a stationary truck at Nkawkaw in the Eastern region Wednesday.
The deceased is reported to be an official of the club.
The captain of the Porcupine Warriors Amos Frimpong, Baba Mahama and defender Ahmed Adams sustained severe injuries and have been rushed to the Holy Family Hospital at Nkawkaw for treatment.

Disgraced football official Chuck Blazer has died at the age of 72, his lawyers say.
Blazer, whose evidence to US investigators helped trigger the Fifa corruption scandal, had been suffering from cancer.
He was a larger-than-life character, and formerly the general secretary of Concacaf, the governing body of North and Central American football.
