Gambia investigate ex-president accused of stealing $50m

The Gambian President Adama Barrow has set up a commission to look into the assets of the former leader Yahya Jammeh. 
He is accused of stealing more than $50m (£38m) from the state before he fled into exile earlier this year.

Manchester City have completed the signing of Tottenham and England right-back Kyle Walker for an initial £45m.
Walker, who has 27 caps and spent eight seasons at Spurs has signed a five-year deal with City.

Rwanda killed 37 petty criminals, Human Rights Watch says

Rwandan authorities have summarily executed "at least 37" people accused of committing minor criminal offences, instead of prosecuting them, Human Rights Watch (HRW) says.
The government in Kigali denies that any extrajudicial killings took place. 
Most of the alleged victims were accused of theft - in one case stealing bananas.

A federal judge in Hawaii has expanded the list of family relationships needed by people seeking new visas from six Muslim-majority countries to avoid President Donald Trump's travel ban.
US District Judge Derrick Watson on Thursday ordered the government not to enforce the ban on grandparents, grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins of people in the United States.

A promising 20-year-old Dutch footballer has been left permanently brain damaged after collapsing during a pre-season friendly game, his club Ajax said Thursday. 
Abdelhak Nouri was put into an induced coma at a hospital in Austria after collapsing during the friendly match against Werder Bremen on Saturday, July 8 as the Dutch club prepared for the 2017/2018 season.

Cosby trial cost $219K, more than half paying for overtime

Officials say Bill Cosby's trial last month in suburban Philadelphia cost the local government $219,000, with more than half going toward overtime for deputies, detectives, security guards and court personnel.
Montgomery County released a breakdown Thursday that says it racked up about $46,000 in hotel stays for jurors who were brought in from Pittsburgh to hear the case. Juror meals amounted to $14,000.

Police call for public support to grab Lapaz cop killers

The Police Service is asking the public to provide credible information that will lead to the arrest of two armed men who shot two police men – killing one and injuring the other – at Lapaz, Thursday.
A statement released by the police said the deceased officer, whose name is yet to be released, passed away at the Police Hospital while receiving treatment.
