Ed Sheeran back on Twitter after brief disappearance

Ed Sheeran's disappearance from Twitter appears to be short-lived.
The singer's account is back online hours after it suddenly vanished. All of Sheeran's tweets since April 2015 have been removed, and the singer's more than 19 million followers have been reduced to a few thousand.

Tenth floor of Job 600 on fire

Fire has gutted the 10th floor of the Job 600 building located at Parliament House in Accra.
Information gathered by indicates that the entire floor has been gutted by the fire which is spreading to other floors.
It is not known what caused the fire but personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) are at the scene trying to douse the inferno.

May Brown: Visa battle transplant sister dies

A woman with leukaemia at the centre of a campaign to allow her donor Nigerian sister to come to the UK has died. 
Martha Williams, 26, travelled to the UK to donate stem cells to 24-year-old May Brown.
The Home Office reversed a decision not to issue Ms Williams a visa after more than 60,000 signed an online petition.

Africa Cup of Nations: Caf considers summer move

The Africa Cup of Nations could be moved to the summer as part of changes being discussed by the continent's ruling body.
The Nations Cup's timing in January and February has long angered clubs in Europe, where many Africans play. 
The biennial finals could also be boosted from 16 teams to 24.

Police in Saudi Arabia detain woman in miniskirt video

Police in Saudi Arabia have arrested a young woman who wore a miniskirt in public and who had posted the video online, sparking an outcry from people who say she flagrantly violated the kingdom's conservative Islamic dress code. 
Saudi Arabia's state-run TV reported Tuesday that police in the capital, Riyadh, arrested the woman for wearing "immodest clothes" and referred her case to the country's public prosecutor.

Spain football chief Angel Maria Villar Llona arrested

The president of the Spanish Football Federation and his son have been held as part of a corruption investigation, police in Spain say.
Angel María Villar Llona was arrested on suspicion of embezzling funds, El Pais and Efe news agency reported.
Mr Villar, a former Spain international footballer, has been president of the association since 1988.

Speaking to TMZ, Joycelyn said she is 21, and will be 22 in a couple of days.

Ed Sheeran Deletes Twitter Account

Ed Sheeran deleted his Twitter account on Monday (July 17), without providing any kind of public explanation to fans. 
The action came a day after Sheeran appeared in a guest role on Game of Thrones, which received a mix of positive and very critical reviews. Possibly, Sheeran was sick of receiving the negative comments and decided to leave the social media site, or maybe it was because of this Buzzfeed article highlighting "24 Tweets Ed Sheeran Will Probably Delete Soon." Or maybe was something he had been meaning to do for some time. 

Hijab-wearing woman among Apple's new emojis

US tech giant Apple has previewed forthcoming emojis, including one that depicts a woman wearing a hijab.
More than 12 animated symbols were unveiled on Monday to celebrate World Emoji Day and will be released on Apple devices later this year, the company said.

Notorious Robber Arrested Over Carjacking

Nicholas Kwame Adjei, a 35-year-old man described as a notorious armed robber, has been arrested after snatching a Toyota Corolla taxi cab.
The suspect, said to be a recidivist, who resides at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region, snatched the taxi with registration number GS 328-13 from one Isaac, the cabbie, at gunpoint at Ataase Nkwanta, near New Edubiase in the Adansi South District of the Ashanti Region.

A young lady suspected to be a sex worker has been murdered at Teshie  in Accra.
The deceased was found lying in a pool of blood with the throat slit and multiple stab wounds.
According to an eye witness, the deceased, yet to be named, was found in a brothel where she operates with other prostitutes.

Meechy Monroe dead: YouTube star famed for natural hair tutorials dies at 32

A YouTuber who rose to fame for urging black women to embrace their natural hair has died at the age of just 32.
Meechy Monroe died of brain cancer at a nursing home in Westmont in Illinois on 27 June.
According to Monroe turned her attentions to her locks in 2009 after becoming despondent with marketing jobs and enduring a bad haircut which prompted her to ditch the mane she had been subjecting to perming chemicals from the age of 16.

Evangelist in court for allegedly swindling fiancée of GH¢165,000

A self-styled evangelist is facing the law for allegedly swindling his fiancée of GH¢165,000. The accused, Solomon Yidana, was on Monday put before a Kumasi Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Ekow Mensah, to answer a charge of defrauding by false pretence.
He however pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of GH¢165,000 with three sureties.
Yidana would be making his next appearance on Monday, July 24.

Netflix Adds A Whopping 5.2 Million Subscribers In Blockbuster Quarter

Netflix couldn’t keep new subscribers away in its latest quarter.
The streaming giant said on Monday that it added 5.2 million subscribers in the second quarter, crushing its own forecasts of 3.2 million new subscribers.

R&B singer R Kelly has denied allegations that he is holding several young women in an "abusive cult".
The singer's lawyer said he would work "diligently and forcibly to pursue his accusers and clear his name".
A BuzzFeed report accuses the singer of brainwashing women, who got closer to him in an effort to boost their musical careers.

10-year Old Nigeria Boy Dies While Trying To Remove Explosives Strapped To His Body

Police says, a 10-year-old cattle herder has been killed in north-eastern Nigeria while trying to remove explosives that militant Islamists forcibly strapped around his body.  
The police also added that the boy's younger brother was injured in the incident, which happened over the weekend in the outskirts of Maiduguri. According to reports, the two children came in contact with the Boko Haram militants while grazing their animals.

7 Ethiopian Musicians Charged With Terrorism For Making Politically Charged Songs

The Ethiopian government has charged seven musicians with terrorism for producing and uploading politically charged songs on YouTube.
The group known as 'Oromo' comprising producer Elias Kiflu, singers Seenaa, Gemechis Atbara and Oliyad Bekele and dancers Ifa Gemechu, Tamiru Keneni and Mobile Misganu, have been detained since December 2016 in Maekelawi Prison, which is notorious for torture practices.
