Serena Williams advocates for equal pay for Black women

With today being the Black Women's Equal Pay Day, Pregnant Tennis star, Serena Williams took to her social media accounts to advocate for equal pay for Black women.
According to her, 'July 31 is Black Women's Equal Pay Day, which represents the number of days into 2017 a black woman must work to earn the same pay a white man made in 2016 — that's nearly 8 extra months! Black women are the cornerstone of our communities, they are phenomenal, and they deserve equal pay.'

Miss Ghana 2017 Set To Launch Officially On August 2

Police in Malawi issue arrest warrant for ex-female President, Joyce Banda over corruption scandal

Police in Malawi have issued an arrest warrant for former President Joyce Banda over a corruption scandal, known as cash-gate, during her time in office.
In issuing the arrest warrant for ex-President Joyce Banda, Malawi's police said they have "unearthed credible evidence" in connection with the $250m (£190m) cashgate corruption scandal which "raises reasonable suspicion that the former president committed offences relating to abuse of office and money laundering".

Nemanja Matic: Manchester United complete signing of Chelsea midfielder

Manchester United have completed the signing of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea for £40m on a three-year deal.
The midfielder, 28, becomes United's third summer buy after £31m defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica and £75m striker Romelu Lukaku from Everton.

Jeanne Moreau: French screen icon and star of Jules et Jim, dies at 89

Actress Jeanne Moreau, one of French cinema's biggest stars of the last 60 years, has died at the age of 89.
Moreau is probably best known for her role in Francois Truffaut's 1962 new wave film Jules et Jim.
She won a number of awards including the best actress prize at Cannes for Moderato Cantabile in 1960.

Facebook Girl Killed For Rituals at Kwabenya

The Kwabenya Police in Accra have discovered the body of a lady believed to be in her mid twenties with parts of her body allegedly removed for suspected ritual purposes.
The lady, identified by some Facebook friends as Lydia Ama Serwa aka DC Queen and described as a “town girl,” was discovered on Monday, July 24 at about 8:00 am in an uncompleted apartment.

12 inmates make Alabama jailbreak

Twelve inmates escaped from a jail in Alabama, authorities said on Sunday, and six still remain at large, including two who were incarcerated on charges including attempted murder.
According to Reuters, the inmates escaped from the Walker County Jail, the county sheriff's office said on its official Facebook page. No details on when or how the escape occurred were available.

The First round of auditions for the 15th edition of the Miss Malaika Ghana pageant came off on Saturday,July 29th at the Tomreik Hotel, East Legon.

Angelina Jolie is refuting a Vanity Faircover story that described a controversial casting process for her movie “First They Killed My Father.”

According to the excerpt, Jolie and her casting associates placed money on a table and allowed the children to take it. However, after taking the money, the director then “caught” the kids, and forced them to explain why they needed the cash. Srey Moch was ultimately chosen for the part.

Russia's Putin orders 755 US diplomatic staff to leave

Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that 755 staff must leave US diplomatic missions, in retaliation for new US sanctions against Moscow.
The decision to expel staff was made on Friday, but Mr Putin has now confirmed the number who must go by 1 September.
