British police arrest 50-year-old jogger suspected of knocking woman in front of bus

British police on Thursday said they had arrested a 50-year-old jogger on suspicion of knocking a woman into the path of a bus on a busy west London street earlier this year. 
Closed circuit TV footage showed the male runner knocking a 33-year-old woman head-first in front of a bus, which just managed to swerve out of her way.

Siren abusing officers have been arrested – IGP

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) David Asante Apeatu has said the service has arrested some of its own for the misapplication of Road Traffic regulations on sirens.
“…In recent times, we have arrested some of our officers who have been tried summarily,” he said.
He made this known Thursday August 10, 2017, when he appeared before the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament (PAC).

Mother beats son in Kenyan election

A Kenyan woman has trounced her son to win a parliamentary seat in south-west Kenya, the Daily Nation reports.
Beatrice Kones was competing against her first-born son, Kipkalya Kones, in the contest in Bomet East, in one of the most watched parliamentary duels in the country because it pitted members of a nuclear family.

Usher's accuser exposed by her friend who says she has a history of "finessing" celebrities

On Monday, a young lady named Quantasia Sharpton made allegations that she was exposed to herpes by R&B singer Usher on her 19th birthday. Now a friend of hers has come out to say that Quantasia is known for "finessing" celebrities, and sometimes even non-celebrities.
The friend claimed Quantasia "finessed" August Alsina by telling people that she was pregnant with his child. He also said that Quantasia did a similar thing to rapper Kirko Bangs. He said she "finessed" her friends by telling people that she had a baby in High School.

South Africa’s deputy Education Minister for Higher Education Mduduzi Manana is appearing in the Randburg Magistrates Court in Johannesburg. 
On Monday, he was accused of hitting a woman during a row at a nightclub and has since apologised.

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a serial trickster by name Faith Mensah Tekpor who poses as a medical doctor.
A statement by the Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, DSP Sheilla Kessie Abayie-Buckman said the suspect uses several names such as Dr. Jeff Alvin Addow, Dr Alvin Owusu, Dr Alvin Mensah to defraud his victims mostly women within Sakumono and Tema.

Senegalese club US Ouakam banned for seven years

The Senegalese Professional Football League (LSFP) handed a seven-year ban to US Ouakam following the crowd trouble which left eight people dead during the League Cup final against Stade de Mbour last month.
The LSFP's disciplinary committee said it holds US Ouakam "exclusively responsible" for the tragedy at the Stade Demba Diop on 15 July.

Kevin Hart sued by fan for $50k after his security called him 'Bitch, P***y & Coward'

Comedian Kevin Hart is being sued by a fan who claims his security assaulted him and called him a "bitch, p***y and coward."
According to TMZ, the complainant who identifies as Jay Collins claims in his lawsuit, said that he was an invited VIP guest at Kevin's Philadelphia concert on August 29, 2015, when he was "aggressively approached and detained by stadium security."

Two-month-old baby buried alive in Central Region

A two-month-old baby buried alive at Bantama a suburb of Elmina in the Central region has been rescued by construction workers.
The baby was first sent to the Elmina Urban Health Centre for first aid and later transferred to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Liverpool have rejected a bid of 100 million euros (£90m) from Barcelona for Brazil playmaker Philippe Coutinho.
Barca's second bid for the 25-year-old, which was rejected immediately, comprised an initial 85m euros (£76.8m) plus 15m euros (£13.5m) in add-ons.

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has cautioned the general public especially, hawkers who have encroached on pavements, footbridges and other open spaces to vacate these places.
The AMA in a statement signed by the Coordinating Director, Sam Ayeh-Datey, said it will be conducting a decongestion exercise to rid the metropolis of their activities.

Up to 50 refugees 'deliberately drowned' off Yemen: UN

Up to 50 refugees and migrants from Somalia and Ethiopia were "deliberately drowned" when a smuggler forced them into the sea off Yemen's coast, the UN migration agency said on Wednesday, calling the drownings "shocking and inhumane".
International Organization for Migration (IOM) staffers found the shallow graves of 29 of the refugees and migrants on a beach in Yemen's Shabwa during a routine patrol, the agency's statement said. The dead were buried by those who survived.

During the early hours of Wednesday morning, August 9, a pedestrian bridge collapsed onto the N3 highway which resulted in a full road closure between Van Buuren Road and the M2 Geldenhuis Interchange.
A female passenger survived after being trapped inside the cab for about two hours while rescue teams battled to extricate her out of the wreckage after the truck, in which she was travelling, crashed into the collapsed pedestrian bridge running.
