World’s oldest man dies in Israel aged 113 years

Israeli Holocaust survivor Yisrael Kristal, who was certified in March 2016 by Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest man died Friday in the Israeli city of Haifa at the age of 113.
Following reports of his death in the newspaper, Kristal’s daughter, Schulamit Kristal, confirmed her father died a month before his 114th birthday.

Africa Feeds Media Ltd Partners With Deutsche Welle

Pan African media brand, Africa Feeds Media Ltd has announced that it is partnering with Germany's international broadcaster, Deutsche Welle (DW).

As part of the partnership, the news portal will broadcast a live TV feed from DW.

Girl, 14, beats rival to death over man in Ashanti Region

A 14-year-old girl has allegedly beaten a 13-year-old rival to death at Asamang in the Afigya Sekere East district of the Ashanti region.
Family sources of the deceased known as Maa Abena say the two teenagers have been at each other’s throat for some time now over a man the two are allegedly dating.

Breaking: Kenya election: Uhuru Kenyatta 'defeats Raila Odinga'

Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta has been re-elected following Tuesday's vote, the national electoral commission has announced.
Mr Kenyatta, in office since 2013, took 54.3% of votes, ahead of his rival Raila Odinga, with 44.7%.

Usher was with his Plus sized accuser in her hotel room - Staff claims

A woman claiming to be a former employee of the hotel where Usher allegedly had sex with the plus sized lady who's accusing and suing him for exposing her to herpes, has claimed the singer was at the hotel.
The source who says she worked at the Days Inn in Atlantic City,  less than a mile from the concert venue told TMZ that she saw Usher come into the lobby shortly after midnight on November 16. She says Sharpton Quantasia came down, greeted the singer in the lobby and brought him to her room.

First Ghana comedy awards to be held September 1

Comic Awards Ghana is an Award scheme setup by DOXA Productions to honor Ghanaian comedians that put smiles on the faces of many Ghanaian daily.
Organizers of the award scheme have given patrons another reason to be at the National Theater on September 1 to recognize comic actors, standup comedy and various comic works/genre. So far many comic acts has filed for nominations and voting has started.

Gambia begins financial probe into ex-President, Yahya Jammeh

A commission in charge of investigating former President Yahya Jammeh’s finances has started its hearings in Gambia.  
The country’s ministry of justice believes that tens ofmillion dollars of public money was looted from state funds by the former leader during his 22-year rule.  Three bankers and the director of the revenue service were questioned at the start of the public hearings.

The host of weekly television talk show ‘Stand Point’, Gifty Anti became a mother for the first time, on Friday, August  11, 2017.
The 47-year-old broadcaster delivered a bubbly girl at an undisclosed medical facility in the national capital,Accra, has learnt.

Jailed Athlete, Oscar Pistorius to be freed from jail for a second time on 'compassionate leave'

Jailed South African athlete, Oscar Pistorius is to be freed from jail on 'compassionate leave' next week to attend a funeral for his grandmother, who died earlier this week at the age of 93.
This will be the second time the convicted murderer will be given such preferential treatment by the Prison authorities.

James Damore, a former software engineer at Google, was fired earlier this week for a memo he wrote which was interpreted as promoting gender stereotypes (read here).

United States President Donald Trump has made a new threat to North Korea, regarding the miniaturized warhead.
Trump had threatened North Korea with “fire and fury like the world has never seen” on Wednesday after sources discovered they had developed ways to miniaturize a nuclear warhead that can fit atop a missile.

World Cup 2026: Morocco confirms it will bid to host tournament

The Moroccan Football Federation has announced it will bid to host the 2026 World Cup.
The deadline for countries to express their intention to bid to host the tournament is Friday, at which point Fifa will confirm the bidders.

Train collision in Egypt leaves at least 28 dead and over 70 wounded

Egypt's Health Ministry confirms that at least 28 people are dead and over 70 wounded after 2 trains collided in Alexandria.
According to Al-Ahram, the collision involved one train that had been traveling from Cairo and another from Port Said. The collision happened in Alexandria, where ambulances and local officials have been deployed.

Trump thanks Putin for expelling US diplomatic staff

US President Donald Trump has thanked President Vladimir Putin for expelling more than 750 American diplomatic staff from Russia.
The comments were immediately criticised by current and former US officials.
"I'm very thankful that he let go of a large number of people because now we have a smaller payroll," said Trump on Thursday, breaking nearly two weeks of silence on Putin's July 30 order cutting US embassy and consulate staff by nearly two-thirds.

Hajj Pilgrims stranded at Tamale

The pilgrimage by first batch of Ghanaian Hajj Pilgrims is hanging in the balance because their scheduled flight for 8:30 pm Thursday August 10 has failed.
The over 500 pilgrims are stranded at the Tamale Sports Stadium where the Tamale Hajj Village is relocated.
The Northern Regional Coordinating Council in an attempt to persuade the angry Pilgrims at 12 midnight gave them biscuits and soft drinks.

Over 150 refugees 'thrown' into Yemen sea, 13 missing

More refugees and migrants have been "deliberately drowned" by human smugglers for the second time in 24 hours off the coast of Yemen, according to the United Nations migration agency.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said in a statement late on Thursday that its staff found six bodies on the beach - two male and four female - and 13 people are still missing.

Kenya's electoral commission has warned the opposition that its claims of victory for its presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, could be deemed illegal.

Photos: Missing 26-year-old woman who escaped abusive boyfriend found murdered in South Africa

Western Cape Police, South Africa have confirmed the death of a  26-year-old woman who went missing two weeks ago.
Her family said Aviwe Jam Jam fled Khayelitsha, Cape Town in July, to escape her abusive boyfriend, Linda Nolili.  She was last seen in the Summerville area in Kuilsriver after visiting Nolili.

112 wraps of cocaine, 17 parcels of weed impounded in Eastern Region

The Eastern regional Police Command has impounded  112 wraps of whitish substances suspected to be cocaine and 17 pieces of compressed parcels of Marijuana.
The two narcotic drugs were seized in separate operations by the Police.
The wrappers of Cocaine were seized by the Akim Oda Divisional PoliTaskforce upon intelligence on August 8,2017 . The suspect, Ibrahim Nuhu,  now in Police custody, was traveling with the illicit drug from Oda to Accra when he was arrested by the Police .

CNN cuts ties with Jeffrey Lord over 'Sieg Heil' jibe

CNN has parted company with a conservative commentator after he tweeted a Nazi salute at a prominent liberal critic.
Jeffrey Lord tweeted "Sieg Heil" in response to an exchange with the head of Media Matters for America. He later said his comment had been misunderstood and that he was mocking fascists.
