Bill Gates has made his largest donation in 17 years, giving away $4.6 billion worth of shares in Microsoft Corp (MSFT).
The billionaire philanthropist, who has long been the world's richest man, donated 64 million shares accounting for five percent of his overall fortune, according to a Securities & Exchange Commission filing released Monday and first cited by Bloomberg.

An Accra District Magistrate Court has convicted two employers, for failing to pay Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) contributions of their workers.
Shirley Frimpong-Manso, Director of Sparrow Productions Limited, failed to pay the SSNlT contributions of her workers, while Sachin Kupta Gapta, an Indian businessman in charge of Paratham International Limited, did not register with SSNIT to pay the contribution of workers.

Fifa tells Sierra Leone Sports Ministry to 'abstain' from congress decisions

Fifa has responded to the deepening rift in Sierra Leonean football by telling the Sports Ministry to "abstain from taking decisions" related to the timing of the Sierra Leone FA's (SLFA) next ordinary congress.
A congress should have taken place last month but was postponed indefinitely by Fifa on the grounds of carrying out integrity checks on current and potential SLFA members.

200 year old tree falls and kills 11 people in Portugal

At least 11 people including two children were crushed to death when a tree crashed down on crowds as they bought candles for a religious festival on the Portuguese island of Madeira.
Reports suggest the tree which fell was an oak that was about 200 years old. It fell scattering people who were out enjoying the religious festivities in the sunshine.

Teachers to write licence exams

Teachers will now have to pass a special examination before being granted the licence to teach, the National Teachers Council (NTC) of the Ministry of Education has announced.
The move which is in accordance with the new Teachers Licencing Policy under the Education Act 778 (2008) is to enforce discipline and eliminate non-performing teachers from the system.

Over 200 Ghanaian students on scholarship in Russia have threatened to picket at Ghana’s embassy in that country if government fails to release stipends.
According to the students, government has defaulted in releasing the living allowance over eight months.
Some students have resorted to borrowing using their passports as collaterals whilst others have already been kicked out of their hostels due to their inability to pay hostel fees and acquire their medical insurances.

8 people killed in two separate attacks on the UN mission in Mali

According to the UN, on Monday, a total of eight people were killed in two separate attacks on the United Nations mission in Mali. 
Seven people were killed when armed men attacked the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) headquarters in Timbuktu on Monday, according to a MINUSMA statement. Five MINUSMA security guards, one member of the Mali National Police and one civilian contractor working for MINUSMA were killed during the attack.

Tinga: Three dead; many injured in gory accident

At least three people were killed and dozens injured on Monday when an Assemblies of God Church mini bus carrying passengers from Wa to Techiman spurt a tyre and crashed into a nearby bush at Maluwe near Tinga in the Bole District of the Northern region.
The bus had more than 20 people aboard when the accident at the outskirt of the small community a few kilometers from Tinga where 10 people lost their lives last month occurred.

Deadpool 2 stuntwoman dies after on-set injury

An unidentified stuntwoman died on the set of Deadpool 2 in Vancouver, Canada on Monday after her motorcycle crashed during filming, local authorities confirmed.
“Vancouver Police can confirm that a female stunt driver has died on the set of Deadpool during a stunt on a motorcycle,” the department said in a statement, following an initial announcement on social media. “VPD officers are at the scene, along with officers from WorkSafeBC. More information will be released when it is available.”
