US comedy icon Jerry Lewis dies at 91

Veteran American entertainer Jerry Lewis, whose goofy brand of physical comedy won him international acclaim over a career spanning five decades, has died aged 91. 
"Famed comedian, actor and legendary entertainer Jerry Lewis passed away peacefully today of natural causes at 91 at his home in Las Vegas with his family by his side," a statement from the Lewis family said on Sunday.

Ghana fail to qualify for CHAN as shocks continue

Burkina Faso pulled off a shock 2-1 win over Ghana on Sunday to qualify for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Kenya, the tournament for home-based footballers. 
Elsewhere on Sunday, Namibia overturned a first-leg deficit against Comoros to progress.

Interim court injunction stops Johansen from running Sierra Leone FA

An interim court injunction has temporarily stopped the President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Isha Johansen and three other executive committee members from running the country's football affairs until their legitimacy to govern has been proved.
The Sierra Leone High Court granted the injunction at the request of some SLFA members on the grounds that the mandate of Johansen, her two Vice Presidents - Brima Mazola Kamara and Alie Kargbo - and ex-officio member Alie Badara Tarawallie expired on 3 August.

British boy among Barcelona attack dead

A seven-year-old boy with dual British-Australian nationality was killed in the Barcelona terror attack, Catalan police have confirmed.
Julian Cadman was one of 13 people killed when a van ploughed into crowds on Barcelona's Las Ramblas on Thursday.

Dr Bawumia presents relief items to Sierra Leone

Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia toured the Sierra Leonean town of Regent, on the outskirts of Freetown, where over 400 people have been confirmed dead after the mudslide and flooding disaster.

In the company of Sierra Leonean Vice President, Victor Bockarie Foh, Dr. Bawumia was briefed about the tragedy which has left the country with a humanitarian crisis.

Rapper Meek Mill walked out of court without bail Friday following his arrest for allegedly performing wheelies on a dirt bike and uploading a video to Instagram.

South Africa has granted diplomatic immunity to Zimbabwean First Lady Grace Mugabe, allowing her to leave the country without answering questions about an assault allegation.

The General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Dr Mensa Otabil has described events of the past week as eventful and interesting, following the collapse of Capital Bank, of which he served as Board Chairman.
In a sermon on Sunday, Dr Otabil recounted events during the past week saying, “Monday was a fortunately good day for me. I was fine on Monday. Tuesday was a very bad day for me. Wednesday was a very terrible day. You go through this stuff and you wonder; wow, what a week!”

Olympic champion Usain Bolt spent £7,030, on alchohol and a large tip, in one night as he celebrated his retirement at DSTRKT nightclub in London just last week.

Legendary American Comedian and Civil Rights activist Dick Gregory dies at 84

US comedian and civil rights activist Dick Gregory has died at the age of 84, his family has announced. 
Gregory died at hospital in Washington DC after being admitted with an undisclosed illness.
The family shared the news of their "enormous sadness" in a post on social media on Saturday.

"Take me too Lord" woman jumps in the casket during funeral service for her loved one

A heartbroken woman who couldn't bear to live without her loved one made several attempts to be buried alive with them and it was caught on camera.
In the sad video, the woman is seen struglgling to enter the grave dug for the corpse even as other sympathisers held her back. She finally succeeded in entering the grave but was brought out.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari returns from UK

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has returned home after three months of medical leave in the UK.
Officials refused to disclose what he was being treated for.
It was the president's second spell of medical leave this year - leading many Nigerians to question whether he was well enough to run the country.
