Two Tamale University Students Arrested Over Pastor’s Murder

Two male students of the Tamale Technical University have been arrested by police in the Northern regional capital on suspicion of robbing and killing a head pastor.
Dojie Kwame, 28, and Akwasi Bio, 18, were arrested Saturday in Tamale a day after Pastor Ocran Ebenezer of the End Time Believers Fellowship was attacked and killed at his private home in Kumbihiyi near Malshegu in the metropolis.

Tanzania, Uganda Leaders Criticize ICC Probe of Burundi

The leaders of Tanzania and Uganda criticized on Saturday a plan by the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate alleged human rights abuses in Burundi.
A statement from the office of Tanzanian President John Magufuli said the court's decision "compromised efforts" of an East African Community (EAC) committee "charged with seeking a resolution to the Burundi conflict."

George Takei has denied claims by former model Scott R Brunton that he sexually assaulted him in 1981.
After Scott shared details of the alleged incident - which he said occurred in 1981 and involved George, 80, groping him when he was unconscious - with The Hollywood Reporter, the Star Trek actor took to Twitter to insist the assault “simply did not occur”.

BBC's African Footballer of the Year nominees announced

Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah were among five nominees named for the BBC's African Footballer of the Year award on Saturday. Mane's fine form for Liverpool has carried over to the international stage as the winger helped Senegal qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 2002.

Google launches initiative for startup businesses in Africa

AfricaCOM is the largest gathering of some of the best minds in the industries of technology, communications and media. It was here that Google announced their new initiative called the 'Launchpad Accelerator programme'. The global giant's CEO, Sundar Pichai, states that the initiative is tailor-made for African start-ups.
This initiative will operate from a new Google Launchpad Space in Lagos - the first onsite location for the programme outside the US.
The 'Launchpad Accelerator programme' seeks to provide African start-ups with over 3 million US dollars in equity-free support, working space and access to expert advisers from Google, Silicon Valley and Africa. Participants will also receive travel and public relations support during the three-month programme.
