2017 WomanRising 100 Most Influential Ghanaian Women Announced
WomanRising, a flagship network of The African Network of Entrepreneurs
(TANOE) has announced its annual list of the 100 Most Influential Women
in Ghana (100 MIWG) for 2017.
The list, curated by TANOE Research, was instituted to celebrate and
acknowledge women who are breaking grounds, blazing trails, shattering
glass ceilings and taking tougher roles. It was launched in 2016 and
continually spotlights outstanding and positively influential Ghanaian
women.
Sharing insights on the list, Ekow Mensah the CEO of TANOE, mentioned
that the need for role models especially female role models and mentors
cannot be overemphasized in the quest to empower women and in pursuit
of the SDG 5 of achieving gender equality and empowering all women and
girls. He further mentioned that the 100 MIWG list showcases success
stories of women that are shinning the light bright for others to follow
and are by their exploits creating countless opportunities for women in
Ghana and beyond. WomanRising is truly proud of them all he added.
The list, which cuts across 10 sectors, including Media, Politics,
Business, Religion, Academia, Music, Film, Health, Fashion and
Leadership, features 2 sisters: Farida Bedwei and Aisha Bedwei and a
mother and daughter: Zanetor Rawlings and Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings.
Other notable women on the list include: Charlotte Osei, EC
Chairperson, First Lady Rebecca Akufo Addo, Second Lady Samira Bawumia,
Chief of Staff Frema Osei-Opare and Her Ladyship Sophia Akuffo, just to
mention a few.
