Lupita Nyong’o to play Trevor Noah’s mom in biopic
Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o will produce and star in a film adaptation
of Trevor Noah’s memoir Born a Crime.
The Daily Show host released the best-selling book in 2016 which
details his life growing up with a black mother and a white Swiss father.
Nyong’o is currently riding the wave of positive reviews and box office glory
of Marvel’s Black Panther.
But she’s already looking at what’s next and has signed on to play Noah’s
mother, Patricia, in the film adaptation of his autobiography Born a
Crime.
Noah’s mother was a formative figure in his life and survived being shot in
the head by his stepfather in 2009.
Nyongo will co-produce the film, which doesn’t yet have a director attached
to it, alongside Noah’s production company.
