How To Make Your Boss Notice You At Your Work Place

It should be the major goal of an employee with a career of objective to notice or get attention of his or her boss. In order to grow in your career and be successful in it, you need to impress your boss.

As an employee, you have great potential to excel. Feedback from clients, co-workers and direct supervisors assist in you in getting ahead at your workplace. You may feel that you are more than a high potential, that you are already a great promise. Help others see that.

One major way to catch the attention of your boss is to exhibit professionalism. Develop your potential as a professional. You are not born with the knowledge of what makes a good professional. So you have to find that knowledge. Look at people in your company or in your line of business. Who is getting ahead and why? Learn. Read. Get a mentor. Work with a coach. Work on developing yourself into the high potential professional you want to be.

Here is a list of things you might want to start with:

Attitude: How do you approach new assignments and changes? Do you see and create opportunities? Do you see possibilities in every situation? Is your glass half-full or half-empty? Are you a person others want to be around? Make conscious choices. Choose to be not only a good potential, but extraordinary and great!

Communication Skills: You may be afraid of talking to people you don´t know, giving a presentation or a speech. In today´s environment that is not really an option. You have to be able to sell your ideas and negotiate. Also, you need to learn how to communicate with a lot of different people in different situations. If you feel you could be doing better in this area than you are currently doing, get help. Get professional help, from a trainer, career advisor, a psychologist or mentors in your field.

Development: You may have a lot of letters following your name, all kinds of degrees or not. Either way you have to constantly keep on learning and developing yourself. Learn about new technology, new methodologies, new approaches and strategies. Continuously updating your skill-set is essential.

Self-Confidence: Have faith in yourself, know yourself, what you want to stand for and what you want to be known for. Take good care of yourself. Remind yourself of all your achievements. Think about how you will feel when you accomplish what you have set your mind on.

Strategy: Know and be clear on what you want in your career. Design a plan on how to get there.

Break the plan into steps to take. Update your plan as needed. Be clear on how to use your strengths.

Team: Choose the people you want to be around and surround yourself with. Choose people that stretch you beyond your comfort zone. Choose to be around people that challenge you. People that hold you accountable for growing and getting to where you want to go.
