President Akufo Addo Set to Begin Nationwide Tour from Friday
The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will
as from Friday, 18th of May, 2018, begin a nationwide tour which will
start from the Brong Ahafo Region. The tour will see the President
visiting each of the ten regions of Ghana from this month till the end
of the year.
The President returned home overnight from the United Kingdom after a weeklong vacation, his first since assuming office
as President. He was accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs Rebecca
Akufo-Addo, and the rest of their family. During the vacation, the
President honoured two public engagements which saw him speak at the
University of Oxford, as part of its 2018 Africa Conference on the
theme “Enough Rhetoric! Catalysing an Era of Concrete Action”. He also
delivered the keynote address at the London Business School’s Africa
Business Summit.
Addressing the press after the President's arrival, Director of
Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, disclosed that the
President's vacation was restful and he is poised to begin work tomorrow
morning by chairing a Cabinet meeting. As early as Friday, the
President will kick start his nationwide tour which is one of the
governance processes he has adopted as means of staying in touch with
the citizenry across the country.
The President was met on arrival by the Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia; Chief of Staff, Madam Frema Osei Opare; some Ministers of State and Service Chiefs.
