Watch: Childish Gambino masters 'Gwara Gwara' in new music video
Director, actor, producer, and musician Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino, has given his chart-topping new music video a distinctly South African twist, performing the local dance, 'Gwara Gwara'.
The song, "This is America", has reached the number one spot on the US iTunes charts.
The four-minute video tackles issues around police brutality and gun violence while focusing on the experiences of African-Americans in the US.
The violent visuals, which depict Childish Gambino shoot several black people, are powerful and confrontational.
“This is America” premiered after Glover hosted the parody show Saturday Night Live on May 5.
The video has set social media alight.

I hate to do this because artists must be considered on their own merits, also, Donald Glover is far more talented, he acts, sings & raps etc. But imma say this: through the latest iteration of Childish Gambino, DG has just occupied the creative genius space left open by Kanye.— Phumzile Van Damme (@zilevandamme) May 7, 2018
Fela Kuti reverberates in Childish Gambino’s body in This Is America. It is art at its highest form. Still in awe. pic.twitter.com/xpM0LBU0Gq— Michael Skolnik (@MichaelSkolnik) May 7, 2018
