There is an Akan saying which goes, “woka ho aa, 3ny3 ma, wo firimu nso aa ato sen”. The better way it can be translated into English is that, "your presence doesn’t make it full and your absence doesn’t change anything”. This proverb can be understood in many perspectives. However, in this article, it’s going to be viewed from just one angle.

It’s rather unfortunate the youth of today make it look as if they do not need anyone at all in their life.

They mostly talk of new year's revolutions to cut people off and stop checking up on them. I have practically tried designing my journey in that angle but along the journey I have come to realize that, there is nothing called life, if there are no people to have around or reach out to. I have periodically read some books in the Bible that stressed on the importance of human relationships.

The threat I noticed in the future needs to be addressed before things get out of hands.
The truth of the matter is that, nobody is better off without people. Everyone at various points in their lives, need someone and it should be regarded as such. However, the feeling of not wanting to have people around you or a lot of people around you is going to come, but you should consider how you go about it.

It can happen when you receive disappointments and some pathetic experiences from people. The Bible gives the meaning that, man was created in the image and likeness of God. But at the end of the day, His reactions in the Bible should be the motivation of how we should react to them. A typical example in the Bible is when the Israelites gave God some pathetic experiences. What He did was to distance Himself from them in order for them to learn. After they had learnt, they ran back to God and the good news was that, He welcomed them. Take a clue from God; Don’t make your heart bitter and hate on people for the wrong reasons and the things you think they should or shouldn’t have done to you.

Gentle reminder, the exit of certain people causes damage somewhere in your journey. Accept people as irreplaceable and of value. It is known that, the young ones are bound to say things they feel and might not understand. However, you've got to learn how to deal with it and control your emotions. Everyone you have encountered in your life has served a purpose you might not know about. Embrace their presence rather than ignorantly posting online to hurt your own feelings.

The Akan proverb is an error and you need to change that narrative in your journey. You have to train yourself to be mindful of what you store in your heart. Guard your “young heart”. That’s the only thing that will keep you forever beautiful.

You need to send a lot of love to the universe in order to favour your course.

You are not better off without them so learn to acknowledge their absence and presence.
