Chadwick Boseman honoured with new Marvel Studios opening

Disney Plus' Marvel Studios opening credits have been redone to honour Chadwick Boseman on what would've been the late actor's 44th birthday.

"To all fans of #BlackPanther: watch the film on #DisneyPlus late tonight, for a special tribute to someone that was and will always be near and dear to our hearts," tweeted Bob Iger, executive chairman of The Walt Disney Company.

Boseman features heavily in the special version of the archetypal opening, which shows comic book pages turning that morph into the Marvel Studios logo.

The company's official Twitter account also posted the video with the message: "Long live the King. #WakandaForever."

After battling cancer secretly for four years, Boseman died in August.

He starred in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, as well as Black Panther.

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios is pushing ahead with Black Panther 2, which is set to start filming next year ahead of a scheduled release in May, 2022.

It's not been announced how the company will handle Boseman's character of T'Challa / Black Panther in the sequel.
