St. Lawrence College student second in AI for Future challenge

Miss Veronica Aku Dogbegah, a Ghanaian student at St. Lawrence College, along with her team members, won second prize in the AI for Future Business Challenge 2021. 

Other team members included Julia Ju and Christine Ng from the University of Waterloo and Julia L. Wang from the University of Toronto.

Together they conducted market research on the supply chain industry and developed a prototype and market adoption strategy. 

A total of 123 teams participated in the contest. Out of which, five competed in the final round on April 15. 

From the founding partners like Microsoft, RBC, and Agorize, AI for Business Challenge aims at awareness and capacity for AI talent. This project is funded by the government of Canada’s student work-integrated learning program. 

The winners will be awarded a monetary prize and networking opportunities with prospects of employment opportunities. 

Miss Dogbegah said, “participating in the AI challenge has been rewarding and genuinely inspiring. 

Every stage required us to be creative, understand our target audience, and develop a user-centered prototype. I have grown exponentially and improved my team collaboration skill.”

Miss Veronica Dogbegah is completing her Graduate Certificate in Project Management program from St. Lawrence College in Canada and is passionate about user-centered designs, research and technology. 

“This challenge enabled me to put my skills acquired from the UX and project management program at St. Lawrence College to great use and prepared me to take on bigger challenges. Trust and communication were also integral to our team’s success,” she said.

Miss Dogbegah encouraged other students to participate in such contests, which are practical learning experiences and prepares students for the job market and successful careers.
