Ken Agyepong Cuts Sod For 37 Military Hospital Cardio Center

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has cut the sod for the construction of a Cardiothoracic Centre at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

The 80-bed facility will have an intensive care unit, a dialysis unit, an x-ray unit, three operating theaters, a robotic unit, a pharmacy and an outpatient department, executive clinic, training centre and a conference room.

The groundbreaking ceremony is in fulfilment of a promise made by the MP in 2020 when he presented some personal protective equipment to the 37 Military Hospital during the peak of the Covid-19 outbreak in Ghana.

The hospital which currently do not have a cardiothoracic center and therefore refers its heart related cases to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) for treatment.

Chief of Defence Staff, Seth Amoama, in his opening remarks said the kind gesture by the Mr Agyepong was another stride for the hospital management adding that it is a project of great significance to quality health care delivery.

He paid glowing tribute to the Assin Central MP for his contribution to health care delivery in the country.

He added that it was time to consider the human resources for the Centre as all Ghanaians stand to benefit from this project and hoped the project will be completed on time.

Mr. Agyapong, who is the Chairman of the Defence and Interior Committee in Parliament expressed his satisfaction over the attention the project has received so far.

He emphasized that upon a thorough research, he realized the need for such specialized facility to cater for the rising number of people who need such specialized health care.

He indicated that the choice of the 37 Military hospital was due to the hospital’s effort to deliver quality health care and for their services to the nation.

He explained that the Centre when completed will have all the needed units to deliver on its promises and appealed to the contractor to live up to expectation and deliver on time.
